This very decorative two handled vase was made by Crown Devon in the 1950s. The round black and gilded foot leads to a squat baluster style base with a flared and scalloped top with double handles attached asymmetrically to each side. The vase has a red lustre background with black mottling and is decorated on the front with a tree standing amongst gilded and enamelled flowers and a gilded and enamelled butterfly. The double boughed tree supports weeping branches with gilded and enamelled leaves and flowers. The back is decorated with weeping and gilded branches with gilded and enamelled flowers. The edge of the undulating rim is decorated with a band of black with a mottled over gilding and raised enamel "jewels' dotted amongst it. The interior is in mother of pearl lustre.
The underside of the foot has the gilt crown backstamp, with the words " Crown Devon Fieldings Made in England Reg Applied For". with the numbers "5033" painted in black and moulded numbers that appear to be "348 61A" .
